What is a ClearPlay DVD player?

A ClearPlay DVD player is a DVD player that has been manufactured with ClearPlay technology.  ClearPlay technology allows you to use ClearPlay Filters. ClearPlay is a fancy DVD Player that can play regular DVD movies -- but without profanity, violence and nudity.

What is required to use ClearPlay?

If you would like to watch your movies with ClearPlay, you need the following:

1. ClearPlay DVD Player
2. ClearPlay Filters^TM - All Filters Included with Membership.
3. DVD movie
4. A television

What is a ClearPlay Filter?

A ClearPlay Filter^TM is a software filter for your DVD movies. Each DVD movie has a custom Filter created just for that movie. When you play a DVD movie in a ClearPlay DVD player with a ClearPlay Filter, objectionable content is omitted from viewing based on the ClearPlay Filter Settings (see next).

• Strong Action Violence: Removes excessive violence, including fantasy violence.
• Gory/Brutal Violence: Removes brutal and graphic violent scenes.
• Disturbing Images: Removes gruesome and other disturbing images.

Sex and Nudity:

• Sensual Content: Removes highly suggestive and provocative situations and dialogue.
• Crude Sexual Content: Removes crude sexual language and gestures.
• Nudity: Removes nudity, including partial and risque art nudity.
• Explicit Sexual Situations: Removes explicit sexual dialogue, sound and activity.

Language:

• Vain Reference to Deity: Removes vain or irreverent reference to God or a deity.
• Crude Language and Humor: Removes crude language and bodily humor.
• Ethnic and Social Slurs: Removes ethnically or socially offensive insults.
• Cursing: Removes profane uses of "h*ll" and "d*mn."
• Strong Profanity: Removes swear-words, including strong profanities such as "a**" and "s***".
• Graphic Vulgarity: Removes graphic vulgarities, including "f***."

• Explicit Drug Use: Removes vivid scenes of illegal drug use.

ClearPlay Filters are tailor-made to preserve the entertainment value of each film.  Each Filter is screened multiple times to ensure that the integrity of the plot and story of the movie are maintained.

ClearPlay technology is integrated during the manufacturing process, and cannot be added to existing DVD players.

ClearPlay adds new Filters each week, including both new DVD releases as well as past Hollywood favorites.  The latest DVD releases are usually ready for download within 48 hours from the DVDs release date!

We receive numerous requests from our wide range of customers.  Because of the number of requests that we receive, we cannot guarantee that any individual request will be created.  We refer to the requests we have received each week as we decide which new Filters to create, and prioritize them based on the number of request received, as well as the general popularity of the film.

Each week our Filter Developers create new Filters based on what new DVD releases are available, what titles have been requested by our customers, and what movies are box-office favorites.

The content we Filter out of DVD movies is based on our ClearPlay Filter Settings. ClearPlay users have the option to choose which types of content are removed from DVD movies by customizing any of the ClearPlay Filter Settings.

ClearPlay uses mutes and skips to filter out content based on our Filter Settings. We do not filter subtitles at this time, with one exception. If there is not an English audio track, ClearPlay will use skips to filter the language in the subtitles.

ClearPlay is currently available only for Region 1 DVDs that are available in the USA and Canada.  We are working to make ClearPlay available in other regions of the world.
